A World of Opportunities
Create Powerful Content
Stakeholder engagement has changed. Stakeholder information needs have changed. Engagement technology has changed.
Video will boost your engagement and ensure your stakeholders – regardless of their location – are more connected, informed and included.
Whether you are delivering a large program or project that affects a large number of Queenslanders or simply want to better engage your state-wide workforce, we can help you lift your engagement.
Whether it is a project or program of work, or for your department as a whole, our video services will enhance your engagement and communication programs.
Awesome benefits of our services we need to bring to your attention:
- Your presentations can be delivered state-wide, once (like magic!).
- We can create super engaging videos to supplement the written material.
- Your regional audiences are more connected and informed (and they will actually like you more for making the effort!).
- Let the community get to know your department by putting your fantastic public servants in front of the camera.
- Establish an ongoing dialogue with your stakeholders.
- Major reductions in travel budgets and carbon footprint (this is a big one!).
“Information is power when it is not shared; yet it becomes powerful when shared”, said us.
Releasing information in a timely manner across the vast distance of Queensland is a significant barrier to effective engagement.
However, the days of taking a presentation on a roadshow, once are gone.
For regional audiences, they often have to wait until the roadshow comes to town; and if they can’t make it, they don’t hear it at all!
This is frustrating and increases feelings of isolation and reduces trust in your organisation.
Enter live streaming!
Live streaming (or webcasting) allows you to present in real-time to internal and external audiences. It is a great tool for announcements or simply keeping up a regular dialogue with your stakeholders or workforce.
It means you can share the most important information with all your stakeholders at the same time. You might still need to follow-up with regional sessions, but the live stream provides the information base which everyone has access to.
Sounds stressful, it isn’t. You set up for a presentation as per normal, and a web link is sent to your audiences to access the live presentation and away you go! For those who missed it on the day, the presentation is available ‘on demand’.
So, your audiences never miss out on hearing important information.
Key benefits of live streaming:
- All audiences hear the information at the same time, in real time.
- No requirement to travel.
- Viewer registrations tells you who tuned in.
- Online audiences can submit questions ‘live’ for response.
- Can include ‘live captions’ to ensure it meets government standards.
- Presentation available afterwards to post on website or email
When would you live stream?
<As I’m writing this, I think it could actually be a fun video script; so think about perhaps just a layout for above text and then video on right>
I need to keep working on this script, but let me know if you think the three situations are good.
In our experience there are several situations that every department will face and how live streaming can assist.
Kicking off a community consultation
Kick off a community consultation process is always a good idea.
Doing this in the first week of a consultation will allow you to describe the fundamentals of the consultation: dates, key changes, ways to input, what it means etc; so those stakeholders who are interested have all the information they need to get started on their submission.
A significant consultation will include regional visits,
If you are running a significant and longer-term program
A significant program of work requires a lot of engagement over a long period of time. You can’t jump on a plane every time you have an update; so, using live streaming to keep the dialogue flowing with impacted stakeholders throughout the program is fundamental.
Talking to your workforce
Most departments have staff peppered across our great state.
It is easy to engage these staff by using live streaming. Whether this is regular monthly sessions, or they are focussed on any key changes.
Ensuring everyone is informed at the same time will help reduce employee angst and provides access to information at any one point in time.
Quotes (MEC following up permissions)
“Before the department started doing live streams, we would often only hear important information through the rumour mill or not at all. We felt really disconnected (even though we were only in the Gold Coast) and that we weren’t important.
Since live streaming commenced, we felt much closer to Brisbane because we were receiving important information at the same time as our colleagues and could ask questions.
Also seeing more faces from the Brisbane office through the live streams and education videos helped us recognise people, so when we would visit (or they would visit us) it helped us feel more connected as a department.”
Martin Garred, previous Senior Planning Officer in Gold Coast Office.
